Yup. Stayed there with my family as a young kid. Performed there as an adult. Sad to see it go but as they say; "that's Vegas!" Wow July 4th? I might need to extend my stay next weekend. ;)

@JKStayinVegas - I thought I read somewhere or saw a video that said the space would be the site of the new Las Vegas stadium.

That's SOO Crazy! I'm coming the week before Labor Day. It is sad but you know that's how it is in Vegas .

I wonder how imploding the asbestos became a non-issue...

The July 4th implosion will make the completion of the new baseball stadium and new Bally’s resort a year earlier

In most sane countries this would be called an act of vandalism! How very, very sad! Stayed here from UK over 15 years and loved it!

The Tropicana will not be imploded due to asbestos and issues with dust control surrounding nearby properties.

i surprised construction companies dont make youtube videos at this point when they are demoing something not building thats an obvious reason but demo? they would get so many views unless theirs some sorta contract where they cant for some reason

My great uncle Rich perforned up until closure. I stayed in his suite on the 3rd floor just in September / January for U2. I could see it in this video. Sad to see it go

Why would they spend all the money gutting it if they were going to implode it? Normally they only gut the floors they are planting explosives on.

implosion will never happen July 4th. they have not even applied for the permit to do it yet. it will take CDI weeks of work to set the explosions. late September or early Oct is when it will happen. Probably on a Monday or Tuesday night when it's not as busy.

Working through permitting It’s unclear if Bally’s has similar theatrics planned for the possible implosion. The company has stayed tight-lipped about plans - the spokesman said Tuesday they are still targeting an October implosion. Clark County approved a demolition permit for the site on April 20. The company has until Oct. 20 to carry out the estimated $15 million demolition, according to the permit. Wreckage work done so far has been carried out by Orange County, California-based GGG Demolition Inc.

The permit notes that demolition work will begin April 8. The news comes after much speculation of whether the property will be imploded or demolished piece-by-piece. A Bally’s chairman previously told FOX5 that demolition work would take place in October.

While I was stationed at Nellis AFB 1988-1992 the Tropicana was one of my favorite place to hang. After leaving Vegas when I would often go back, I would stay at either the Trop or the MIrage. The staff at the Trop was always amazing, one Bartender (Sam) always was there. Rememberd my name and knew what I liked to drink. Valet guys were stellar, they made you feel like you were a Whale checking in. Good Times. Old School!
